I love embarrassing my 10-year-old son by using his Gen Alpha slang incorrectly.
I’ll hit him with a “sigma” or drop a “no cap” mid-sentence like I know what I’m doing. At home. In the car. In front of his friends. It’s my job. It rhymes with Grug.
Last week, one of my cringe moments actually sparked an idea.
After one of my failed attempts at using his slang, he groaned and said, “You’re not even using it right! You need a dictionary.”
I joked, “There should be a slang translation app for parents.
”His face lit up. “Wait, could we build that?”Me: “Bet.”
I’d been itching to try Lovable. This was the perfect excuse to check that box, build something fun with the boy, and teach him what an MVP is.We grabbed the laptop and got to work.
Before building, we worked through some MVP basics:
🎯 Goal: Make an app that explains Gen Alpha slang
🙋 Users: People like me — “uncs”
🧩 Features: Dictionary, quizzes, submissions, and ✨vibes✨
✅ Success criteria: If it works and makes us laugh, we ship it
Then we cracked open Lovable and I taught him how to:
✍️ Write a prompt for the layout and UI (with help from ChatGPT)
🗃️ Create the tables and asset storage
📚 Add a list of slang terms (his picks, obviously)
🧠 Build 2 quizzes
🔗 Connect everything to Supabase

MVPs don’t need to be serious to be successful.
Sometimes the best way to learn is to build something unserious — and ship it fast.
And tools like Lovable make it possible to go from idea to app in a weekend.
Even with a 10-year-old PM.
Slango now lives online.
Built by a 10-year-old.
Managed by his lowkey mid mom.
